Adding One

Adding just one unexpected element to an outfit can change the mood of a whole day. ACCENT is a series born from that idea — a single brooch as a catalyst for small shifts in how one sees things. We layer the enamel technique onto compositions that stack colors and play with forms.

Enamel — called shippo (七宝) in Japanese — is a technique where powdered glass is layered onto metal and fused by heat. We use this traditional technique in a contemporary jewelry context, keeping its characteristic depth and luster while working with a looser, more playful approach.

Colors of Particles

ACCENT brooches start from collections of glass particles (glaze). Fine particles are melted together with heat, forming a single surface. By adjusting glaze volume and kiln temperature in our Tokyo studio, we get results that are not fully predictable. The slight unevenness remaining on the surface shows the material directly — the texture comes from the process itself, not from polishing to a uniform finish.

The color registers not just visually but also through touch.

A Small Light at the Collar

Enamel surfaces produce deep coloring that shifts with angle. Placed at the collar of a jacket or coat, an ACCENT brooch creates a small "field of light" within an outfit — the luster changes as one moves through the day.
