OFFLINE Brooch
OFFLINE Brooch|A brass brooch that gives form to negative space
Turning our gaze to nameless margins
The "words" we use in our daily lives. When we look at them as forms, we find various curves and margins. The pin brooch series named OFFLINE was born from inspiration drawn from the silhouettes of hiragana, characters unique to Japan.
When we write hiragana as iroha-ni-hohe-to..., shapes appear between the lines. OFFLINE is a brooch that cuts out the silhouettes of the margins surrounding the characters. We gave form to those silhouettes where the soft curves of hiragana overlap with crisp straight lines.
A single brass plate
OFFLINE is finished through all processes from cutting out of a single brass plate to polishing by the handwork of two artists. The material brass comes into contact with air over time and slowly changes to a deep amber color. Just as characters are passed down through the ages, this brooch also deepens its expression along with the time of the person who wears it.
The breathing of lines
Shedding light on the "gaps between characters" that we usually overlook. This is also about carefully scooping up small phenomena that exist outside of efficiency and rationality. Moving away a little from digital connections and turning our consciousness toward the texture and feel of materials.
We hope that OFFLINE, this small pin brooch, can create new margins in the scenery of daily life.
